Concrete Tuesday is a five-piece cover band from New Bedford, Massachusetts.  The band members include Helder DaSilva performing lead vocals, Mike Damaso on lead guitar and backup vocals, Jake StGermaine on rhythm guitar and backup vocals, Danny Sasseville on bass guitar and Kevin Linhares on drums.  They have been together since the summer of 2003, and friends since 1995.  They have played at various private parties and public venues in Massachusetts and Rhode Island.  Their major influences and the music they enjoy playing most is anything Rock & Roll.

A little story on how Concrete Tuesday came about.

In their early high school days you could often find Mike wailing on his 6-string and Kevin hammering on his drums, both with dreams of starting their own band.  With no cares in the world, life just seems to fly by.  Later in their high school careers, both Mike and Kevin took a job at a restaurant just opening up called Old Country Buffet, better known as the infamous OCB.  Their existing school obligations coupled with their new work responsibilities left little time for the aspiring musicians.  As the years passed by life seemed to continue to drag them away from their music.  Both Mike and Kevin became managers at OCB leaving them with more work responsibilities and longer hours.  It wasn’t long after their transition to management that they hired Danny, a person who would prove to not only be a great asset to the OCB team, but to the dreams of starting their own band as well.  Who knew back in 1995 that those three guys, as well as another 17 of OCB’s finest men would still be partying like rock-stars to this day?

One night at a party at Mike's house in the summer of 2003 Mike and Kevin brought up the notion of starting a band. Their first thoughts were "who are we going to get to sing, play bass, and play rhythm". They came up with a few names but were not sure if those people would be dedicated to the band, so they put the band idea in the back of their minds. Later on that night Mike broke out his acoustic guitar and started to play some songs.  Soon the room would overcome with silence as Helder began to belt out Poison’s  - Every Rose has its Thorn.  Mike and Kevin instantly knew, Helder was their singer!

Now that they had three pieces of the puzzle their next mission was to find a bass player.  They thought of some people that they knew could play, but again were not sure if they would be dedicated enough to make the band a long-term reality.  With Danny’s desire to learn the guitar, Mike would soon suggest to Kevin that they enlist him to be their bass player.  Knowing that Danny would have the dedication needed to make the band a success, Kevin agreed with Mike and they soon brought their ideas to Danny.  Not knowing how to play guitar at all, Danny quickly rose to the challenge and after learning the basics from Mike taught himself how to play.

Kevin, Mike, Danny, and Helder chose some songs to play and started working on playing together as a group.  In no time it became apparent that this band needs a rhythm player, but whom?  Mike and Kevin agonized; who will have the drive?  Some names were dropped, but none of them seemed like they would be a good fit.  Suddenly, as if a light bulb went off in his head, Mike said, “hey how about my neighbor Jake”? Although, all of Jake’s family members have either been in a band or at least played an instrument, Jake was a different story, he spent his early years as a rapper, showcasing his lyrics at highschool dances and shopping mall talent shows.  Like Danny, Jake had never played guitar, but taking his lead, Jake quickly rose to the challenge and after relentless practicing, he too would be playing like a rock-star.

After a couple months the band started getting really tight with their music and started adding on song after song. In the beginning, it took the band a month to learn a new song, but after just two months they were adding a new song every week.  The next big task was to come up with a name for the band.  They sat around one night for hours, after practice, trying to find a name that would best fit their style and personalities.  After hours of deliberation, they finally narrowed it down to two names: Al’s Alarm Clock, and Concrete Tuesday.    Al’s Alarm Clock was a good one since the band practiced at Mike’s house, in the basement, and they knew they must have woken up the first-floor tenant (Al) on many occasions with their 1000 watts of sound shaking the house.  Concrete Tuesday was good since the band practiced every Tuesday in the Concrete basement of Mike’s house.  The band was torn, and after some sound advice from Mike’s wife Michelle, the band decided on a name: Concrete Tuesday!
